The Importance of Research and Development

I’ll begin frankly: I’ve been bored. I’ve had a lull in inspiration for sessions recently. It has been harder to access the powerful and titillating headspace from which I typically drive my scenes. The hedonic overindulgence of summer loses its thrill in monotony.

As summer wanes and the first cool several cool afternoons signal the onset of fall, it dawns on me that my creative well has been running low. I’ve been drawing from what has worked in the past as opposed, or other peoples’ perceptions of What Is Hot as opposed to my own erotic desire. Autumnal winds of change sing loudly, and I crave New Material, a rather timely realization as we slip into leather weathered Virgo season.

I’ve enrolled in 3 classes since: one to refresh my aesthetic sensibilities in a medium I’ve never studied before, one to sharpen my non-English tongue, and one to move my body with strict discipline.

I’m setting my own curriculum, along with fresh intentions. This fall, I’m dedicating myself to learning and discovery, and I want my scenes to reflect that. Let’s put my newly acquired knowledge to work. I want to call in sessions that are not just dedicated to the erotic (an altar to the nut) but that also center discovering new facets of our interior and exterior worlds.

Bring me a session idea that takes me/you/us to research. A couples’ session where you uncover something new about your partner and yourself. A roleplay so elaborate that I need to research political power imbalances, theories on hegemonic dominance. Bondage that has me reviewing physics, and material properties of steel versus leather. Forniphilia that integrates elementary tenets of interior design.

Whatever it is, I’m hungry for a challenge. And I know you are too, or else you wouldn’t be reading this. I’m not letting either of us off the hook.
